Making connections for the next generation…
Civil engineering company HEB Construction have shown great initiative by supporting local high school students to prepare for entering the workforce.
Working closely with High Schools in the district HEB have developed programmes that allow school leavers an opportunity to polish their job hunting skills prior to making contact with prospective employers. This includes facilitating mock interviews and providing students with critical feedback on their CVs, presentation and communication skills. In addition to this they have run a series of highly engaging hands-on workshops for female students to enable them to experience a day in the life of a worker in the civil trades and engineering sector. These workshops were produced in partnership with Selwyn District Council and Connexis, “It is a great initiative and makes a solid corelation between ‘real life’ industry and schools, kudos to HEB Construction for making that connection” said Gareth Morgan of Selwyn District Council.
“HEB have partnered with the Selwyn Awards in recognising sporting achievements and leadership in the region for nearly 10 years. It is once again an honour to be involved in this prestigious event and celebrate the commitment to excellence of all the nominees for this year’s Sports Leadership Award.”
